our shambhala experience ended on monday evening as we packed up our gear and left the salmo ranch. galia had left for vancouver and kristin was staying another night before driving back to calgary on tuesday.

elsbeth and i said our goodbyes to kristin and headed into nelson, the place i called home last winter. my weekend at shambhala was simply incredible, but i was really looking forward to a hot shower.

we spent the night in nelson at the home of elsbeth's friend kathryn. daam that shower felt good.

elsbeth and i spent yesterday exploring the majik of nelson. it was so awesome showing her around town.

we stopped at the dancing bear to see anke

we czech'd out cottonwood falls

then we spent the rest of the afternoon at lakeside beach *sigh* aaah, i felt really good to be back in nelson. the sun was shining and the town was alive with people. it sure is a lot busier in the summer than it is in the winter.

i said my final goodbye to anke. i don't know when i'm going to see her again. she's done working at the hostel in october, then she's off. she should be back to ski in rossland next season, so hopefully i'll see her then. i love you anke. you are a wise and sexxy jedi. have a safe journey and i'll see you on the slopes next season.

ew. looks like something got on my camera lens. sorry.

elsbeth and i picked up some groceries and headed back to kathryn's place to cook dinner. elsbeth knows kathryn and her partner garret from yellowknife. it was good to spend time with them while we were in town. they are good people.

thanks for opening up your home to us kathryn. it was so good to have a bathroom to use and a bed to sleep in.

the window from kathryn's place in fairview provided a gorgeous view of elephant mountain. the mountains are majestic. i've missed them so.

elsbeth and i packed up, said our goodbyes to kathryn and garret, and headed out of town towards the balfour ferry. our destination was the east shore of lake kutenai. no matter how many times i take this free ferry, i am blown away at how beautiful the kutenais are.

i was even happier to share the ferry ride with elsbeth

after our 30 minute ferry to the east shore, i took elsbeth to visit the yasodhara ashram.. i love coming to this place. it is a holy and sacred place full of beauty and light.

we arrived at the temple of divine light

the altar in the temple

this book contains the words that connekt you to the divine

fukkin hippies ;)

the acoustics in the temple are like nothing i have ever heard before...okay, i lie...it sounds like the last time i was in the temple of divine light ;)

the domed ceiling reflects and amplifies sound. if you stand in the middle of the temple and laugh, the sound flows through you. if you make it to the kutenais, definitely visit the ashram and experience what its like to feel your own voice vibrate through you at the temple.

the view from the temple looking out over lake kutenai

what makes a place holy? sacred?

the kutenais have been called one of the seven magnetic centres of the world, each representing one of the seven chakras. the kutenais is known as the heart chakra. i like to think of the kutenais as an all year round healing retreat for the soul, and the east shore is the spa.

the ashram is so much more beautiful in the summer

the home of the mou kollektiv is just down the street from the ashram. i was excited to bring elsbeth there, only to find that everyone had left for the hot springs 30minutes before we arrived :( being post shambhala, all of the shrines, crystals, wall hangins, and paintings that normally contribute to the majik space of the mou kollektiv home were missing. the walls were empty. the shrines were gone. it was as though they had moved their home to shambhala for the weekend.

fresh from shambhala, riviere and serge showed up in his super white power hippie bus. oh man, it don't get more hippie than this.

elsbeth and i decided to clean up the place while we waited for the mou kollektiv to return from the hot springs. they never did :(
