ever have one of those weekends? you know, the ones that you will never forget cause it was so freakin' awesome? i seem to be blessed with many of these kinds of weekends, and this past weekend was one of them.

on friday i met someone who i have been interacting with online for the past five years on tribe and since i began my blog a year and a half ago. the reason why ryan and i had never met until now was simple geography...he lives in winnipeg. well, it turns out that ryan and his friend nick were passing through calgary on their way to the kutenais to shred powder at fernie and whitewater. nick and i picked ryan up at the airport and successfully packed up a their rented pt cruiser with a plethora of gear.

we stopped off at the home of ryan's friend in calgary to drop off their gear. i got to czech out nick's prior atv split board, and oh man is it ever fuck pretty.

for those of you wondering what a split board is, its a snowboard that splits down the middle into two separate skiis. why would you want a snowboard that turns into skiis you ask? for backcountry riding - split the board into a pair of skiis, add some tractor skins to em (a grippy layer to prevent slipping), and you're ready to start hiking the backcountry. hiking with skiis and skins is way better than hiking with snowshoes with your board on your back, and faster too. when you're ready to ride down, simply connekt your skis together back into a snowboard and shred! split decision baby. after riding so much backcountry last season, i've wanted a split decision board.

we had dinner at india palace right across the street from kristin's work. it was awesome to finally put a name to a face, and get to know ryan and his friends over a delicious meal.

have a safe trip ryan and nick. i'm so glad i finally got to meet you. shred some kutenai pow for me \m/^_^\m/

i arrived home to find kristin, kevin, and stacey decorating the house in preparation for kristin's bday party the next night. stacey is kristin's best friend and had flown in from victoria on thursday night to spend the weekend here in calgary. yup, kristin is loved...and her 25th bday party was going to be one of those memorable parties that she will never forget.

on saturday, my friend alex landed in calgary from toronto. he and his brother were on their way to golden to ride kicking horse. alex and his brother stopped by my place to say hi and drop off a few things that my sister sent with him. seeing alex was so good for my soul. back in ontario, alex and i rode together often. he was one of my fav peeps to ride with because he rides aggressive and fast, just like me.

i'm taking the bus up to golden on friday to hook up with alex and krew and shred some kicking horse powder. ryan and nick are also going to be joining us. next weekend is going to be epic. i can't wait to ride with a good friend again. its been over a year since i've done that.

we needed to grab some last minute supplies for the party, so stacey and i went on a little saturday afternoon errand run. during our journey, we made a stop at the home of my sister's friend from university, mel. mel and her husband jaret recently became parents to a beautiful baby girl named amelia. thalia had sent a gift with alex for me to give mel, and i had also purchased an adorable source onesie to add to the present.

holding new life is a rush. it is like holding endless possibilities, and caressing the most powerful force in the universe...the power of creation.

congratulations mel and jaret. amelia is beautiful.

kristin, stacey, and i spent the rest of the afternoon and a good portion of the early evening reorganizing the house for the party. czech in for flight ak420 on air kale was to begin at 7:00pm.

over 30 people confirmed their reservation with me before the flight, and i printed out boarding passes for each one of them to pick up at czech-in.

yah, i spent a bit of time designing the flyer and the boarding passes...because kristin is worth it. stacey came to calgary to celebrate because kristin is worth it. and over 40 people made their way to the northwest to get down because kristin is worth it.

the in-flight meal of fondue was deliciously abundant. oil, cheese, chocolate, and a wide assortment of meat, bread, fruits and vegetables to fondue *mmmm*

kristin's family was there, including her father, step mom, and two younger brothers.

the in flight entertainment of jungle beatz was to be served up by fat pat of pk. kristin's family, stacey, and i decided to start warming up the dancefloor.

dj liam! booya!

a man of many talents that liam is. from snowboarding, to dj'ing, even spinning staff!

red clothing was mandatory on this special red eye flight.

some people even made the journey from edmonton to join us on this flight.

kristin was more than happy. she turned a quarter century, she graduated from college with her degree in accounting, and she was hosting a packed and bumpin jam!

being ridiculously good looking wasn't a requirement to board this flight, but lucky for us it just turned out that way :)

with the inflight meal over, i had a bit of time to have stacey do my makeup.

did i mention that there were good looking people on this flight?

fat pat assaulted the flight with dirty and bangin' jungle riddimz.

first class on red eye flight ak420 was bumpin'
