the day of reckoning is upon us! repent! repent! for the day that bears the mark of the devil will bring you nothing but ill repute! for me, it also brought along with it an incredible reconnection with an old friend.

last night i stayed with my good friend fred. fred grew up in markham and lived down the street from my very good friend greg. i spent a lot of time with fred growing up. he went to a different school than greg and i did, more specificallly brother andre, the catholic school. that didn't stop us from hanging out together, and gettin into trouble together.

fred has always had an addiktion to cars, and was known for his lime green punchbuggy.

fred moved to calgary a few years ago. i was glad to see him on my last trip to calgary.

i stayed at fred's place last night after eating dinner at the ship and anchor. fred lives in a large 5 bedroom house in calgary, by himself! ok, maybe not by himself...he's got a cute cat and five, count em, FIVE punchbuggies! this boy loves his veedub bugs!

fred even races his custom lime green bug

seeing a green punchbuggy on a racetrack must be a beautiful site. almost as beautiful as the old skewl snowboard fred also had in his garage!

graffix don't get more raw than that. schweet!

fred works at west jet, so he dropped me off at my friend sarah's place this morning on his way to work. i passed out on sarah's sofa and waited for her to wake up...does anyone lock their doors in canada? ;)

i ran into kristin and one of her friends downtown for lunch.

i ran into sarah again and we walked around downtown calgary for a bit, catchin up and seein the sites.

sarah dropped me off at kristin's work and i headed to kristin's dad's place for dinner. it was the best meal i had eaten since i left toronto for the west: big phat steaks, shrimps, potatoes, beer. it was heaven. cause really, who can afford steak?

it was also good to see kristin's family again.

after dinner, we went to watch kristin's brothers and sister play soccer. kids in little soccer uniforms that are too big for them is hilarious.

they have wierd times for church in calgary

next stop was paula and steph's place to talk about burning man. i can't wait to be back on the playa again. and the view of calgary fom paula and steph's place is pretty schweet!

after our burning man meeting, we met up with fred at a bar called morgan's to see an eighties glam rock cover band named brokent toyz. oh man, these guys are the real fukkin deal! big hair, skin tight pants, bandanas around the ankle.

and they played all of the songs i grew up listening to. poison, ac/dc. whitesnake, motley crue, holy shit it was awesome!

Cause baby well be
At the drive-in
In the old mans ford
Behind the bushes
Till Im screamin for more
Down the basement
Lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me

i was a huge poison fan in the eighties!

i lived in the shadow of my brother, who to this day is still a fukkin metal head. i listened to all the music he listened to, so i knew all of the lyrics to all of the songs that broken toyz played. man, rockin out to "the final countdown" was all kinds of awesome!

kristin was tired and is also not the biggest fan of eghties big hair music, so she left early. after an incredible evening of rockin out to eighties rock with fred, he drove me back to kristin's place only to find out that i was locked out. so i spent the night at fred's again.

being in the presence of a friend that i've known for almost 20years is a feeling that all the money in the world can't buy.

thanks fred, you fukkin rawk dude! what a totally radical way to spend 6/6/6!!!

shout! shout! shout! shout at the devil!
