~*...positive pizza...*~

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. -Stephen Henry Roberts

i ate some of the most delicious pizza today for lunch made by coco brooks, a people company serving pizza. not only does coco brooks make some of the best unique pizzas (like eggs and bacon pizza and hot wings pizza) with the freshest ingredients, they also have a positive message that they want to share. have you heard the good news of jesus christ?

yup, coco brooks has decided to add positive messagesrooted in the word of god onto the boxes that they serve their delicious pizzas in.

not only does jesus save, he also makes a mean pizza pie!

it does make for some good reading material while you enjoy your meal. they even ask that you not be offended by these positive messages, hoping that they only inspire you as they have inspired the owner. read the small print at the bottom.

at least the messages are positive, and lack the damnation that normally accompany religious beliefs and judgement.

perhaps we should all become pastafaris and worship the flying spaghetti monster!

* An invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe, including a mountain, trees and a midget.

* All evidence for evolution was planted by the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The FSM tests Pastafarians' faith by making things look older than they are (q.v. Omphalos). "For example, a scientist may perform a carbon-dating process on an artifact. He finds that approximately 75% of the Carbon-14 has decayed by electron emission to Nitrogen-14, and infers that this artifact is approximately 11,000 years old, as the half-life of Carbon-14 appears to be 5,730 years. But what our scientist does not realize is that every time he makes a measurement, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is there changing the results with His Noodly Appendage. We have numerous texts that describe in detail how that can be possible and the reasons why He does this. He is of course invisible and can pass through normal matter with ease."

all hail the flying spaghetti monster

praise be to pirates...divine beings they arr and the original pastafarians!

feeling moved by the spirit of divine creation, i decided to put on the armour of gawd and wield the sword of his holy word. this bible has been in kristin's family since 1868, one year after the creation of canada.

it was not only a wedding gift for kristin's great great grandparents, it was also the wedding certificate.

there really is a lot of power and energy radiating from this bible. so much family history, so many stories, so many lives changed because of the words contained in these pages.

births

marriages

deaths

the bible is a powerful book full of inspiration and stories. i have no problem with the book, i have a problem with people's interpretation of it, and them forcing their beliefs on others wrapped in judgement.

every man do his ting a likkle way different.

god is the part of us that we believe is greater than us, and we are all gods and goddesses.

we are all praying to the same god, we just call her a different name.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. - Steven Weinberg

lively up yours'elf!

~*...celebration and remembrance...*~

a person will continue to exist as long as someone remembers them

essay by mary schmich as popularized by baz luhrmann in 1999

my friend owen's younger sister, cari, passed away last week from her battle with skin cancer. watch cari's story here.

wear sunscreen. simple.

love and blessings to you owen. sending you maad poz vibes from the rockies to the coast.

playin' one of the most fun video games ever, guitar hero 2! like dance dance revolution, but with a guitar.

i've gotten realy good at playin war pigs by black sabbath! fuck yeah! ozzy roolz!

friday was crystal's birthday, so we celebrated together at the bamboo. happy birthday crystal.

misa, its been too long. don't worry, i promise to behave *wink*

the bamboo was packed and rockin some sexxxy and sweet house music. its been a while since i've been out and heard house music. it would be easier to convince kristin to stab herself in the eye with a fork than it would to convince her to go to a house music event. she's kinda particular about music like that (read if it ain't jungle she ain't happy). but for crystal's bday, kristin will not only listen to house music but dance to it too. i saw it with my own eyes!

last night i attended a party put on by the calgary cacophony society. i first heard about this event through our friend pat, who was actually playing at the party. he said he was playing a burner party, but i had heard nothing about it on the calgary burner list. i'm not going to pretend like i know what the fuck i'm talkin' about here, but because of some politrix within this community this party was an invite only event. i guess the burner mentality of radical inclusion is sometimes difficult to practice when people have differing opinions.

the party wasn't very busy, and i definitely noticed a lack of familiar burner faces at this event compared to previous burner parties that i've been to in this town. i had fun, and still ran into people i knew, but i couldn't help but feel that the spirit of the burn was being overshadowed by exclusivity and politrix. maybe i'm just reading too much into this. it wasn't my party, and if the organizers wanted to make sure they knew everone there by making a list then they have every right too. i guess kristin and i aren't on the bad list. hooray!

glow pillows!

reminded me of the glow fur i saw at burning man this year.

glow furnatics unite!

fat pat killin' it with raw jungle beatz

kelsi and kale

daemond showed up with two radiant goddesses, one who was hearing impaired. she was more than impressed with my limited knowledge of sign language. simple conversational signing like "hi, my name is norm" and "good to meet you" sure can put a smile on someone's face. not to mention that she was ridiculoualy cute too ;)

overall it was a fun evening. i'm looking forward to next week's steamer party, the calgary burners who camped across from us last year on the playa. i'm hoping to celebrate with the entire cspot burner community, including the many faces that were missing last night. fuck politrix.

i spent today workin on the invite for kristin's bday party. the theme is a red eye flight, so red clothing is mandatory. i decided to play on the air farina design and came up with this flyer.

its gonna be a fun jam. yay more celebrations!

love and blessings

~*...no one else exists except us...*~

embarrassment is the reaction of those who have too much invested in what other people think.

i've always been of the mentality that i don't really care what other people think of me. some people don't like the clothing i wear, some people may not like my potty mouth, some people just don't like themselves when they're around me. meh, that's alright, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...they're also entitled to my opinion too ;)

but teaching snowboarding to kristin's brother, liam, has taken me beyond not caring about what other people think about me. to not care about other people's opinions first begins with rekognizing that other people exist and have an opinion.

teaching liam, an autistic child, has helped shape my perspektive on investment in other people's opinions. he has taught me to focus my time and energy on the matter at hand, and shut out everything else that is happenning around us. what's in front of me requires my complete attention.

some people might feel embarrassed or self conscious if their child threw themselves on the ground in the cafeteria screaming and yelling while banging his head on the ground. a year ago, hell, a few months ago i might also have felt that way. but not any more. all that matters is the situation at hand. nothing else exists except what is happening in front of me. no one else's opinion matters, no one else exists except us...and all liam really needs is to let it out.

"ok. you done liam? great, now do you want apple juice or orange juice to drink? awesome buddy. thanks for using your words."

three nights in a row at c.o.p. i fukkin live to ride!

what's the worst part about being a skiier?

~*...i <3 snow...*~

“Sex is like snow, you never know how many inches you're going to get or how long it will last”

word is that winter is cancelled in ontario, so most of my krew back there aren't very happy with gaia right meow. intrawest, the mega resort giant that owns whistler blackcomb, panorama, tremblant, and blue mountain in collingwood, had to lay off 1300 employees at blue because of the shitty lack of winter weather in ontario.

posting on tribe last night in the snowboarding thread got me hyped to ride, so i made my way to c.o.p. to make some late night turns and blast a few airs. oh man it was good to catch some air before the night was over. its awesome that c.o.p. is only 20 minutes away, open at night, and i can ride it any time i want for free. i am blessed.

snowboarding is life, everything else is just details.

i woke up this morning to see ping pong ball sized snowflakes falling form the sky, and a beautiful layer of accumulated snow covering the ground.

seeing snow falling from the sky brings out such joy in me. you know how some people cringe at the sight of snow and hate it with a passion? think of the complete opposite of that, and you'll only begin to start understanding how much i love snow.

in high school i had a 2.5' launch ramp that i brought to the toboggan hill across the street from our high school and covered it in snow. we would bring our boards to school and spend our lunch doing jumps.

skateboarding is not a crime!

a memorable winter storm in ontario, 2004.

mo tee dot snow

i spent tonight at c.o.p. teaching kristin's other younger brother, john, how to snowboard. private paid lessons are the shiznitt...and the snow was awesome tonight too. ride, ride, ride.

i miss whitewater. i can only imagine how siiick of a season they must be having right now.

riding powder is better than sex, but only by a little bit.

i'm addikted to powder, but its a healthy addiktion.

pray for snow!
